Mother Tongue is an exploration of noises in our blood and echoes in our bones, a celebration of language[s] thought and consciousness in the Theatre of Memory.Our stories contain multiple levels of meaning. Not all are transparent to us. The challenge is not to figure it out. We must go beyond our conventional habits of logic and reason,and leap - connect with intuitive insight so that dynamic transformations occur.
Sure as we tailor our tales, the parallels we draw based on our lived experience become our truth. Empowered we leave the safe house of fixed identities and homeless embark on inner and outer journeys of discoveries and wild awakenings.
Wade Davis argues in Light at Edge of the World how we are impoverished when so many indigenous languages are lost:
"Every view of the world that fades away, every culture that disappears diminishes a possibility of life and reduces the human repertoire of adaptive responses to the common challenges that confront us all. Knowledge
is lost,not only of the natural world but of realms of the spirit, intuitions about the meaning of the cosmos, insights into the very nature of existence."
